RVN
Veterinary Nurse

Lara qualified as a veterinary nurse in 2011 in her homeland of Australia. Her first practice was a busy small animal clinic with a strong reptile influence – it even had a practice snake called Jangles!

Since moving to Edinburgh in June 2014 Lara has passed her exams to become a registered veterinary nurse in the UK. She has worked in busy first opinion practices and emergency clinics with the chance to work with some amazing animals such as skunks and marmosets. After 10 years of being in the veterinary field, Lara joined VSS to focus on her interests in feline medical nursing, emergency and critical care and ICU nursing.

Lara has a little black cat called Jack, an SSPCA injured rescue that had come through work and a Rottweiler pup called Poppy who is an attention-seeking softie.

Outside of work she plays American Football through the Edinburgh Wolves Women's team, a team she helped start 6 years ago. She also enjoys exploring different forest walks and plans to tackle the new challenge of rock-climbing and bouldering.
